Assign a driver and follow the day

A route reaches the driver's phone the moment you assign it. After that, Routes shows how the day is going, and you can still change a route while the driver is on the way.

Assign a driver

  1. When the route is optimized, click Choose driver at the bottom of the builder (or the driver at the top).
  2. In Who drives this route?, pick the driver. Under each name you see how many routes they already have that day and how those routes are going.
  3. Click Assign to …. The route appears in the driver's app right away, with a notification.

Pick the driver, or keep the route without one.

Not sure yet? Choose No driver yet: only dispatchers see the route, and you can assign it later from its menu. A route without a driver is marked Unassigned in Routes.

What the driver is told

  • New route when you assign a route to them.
  • Route updated when you change a route they have. Quick edits are grouped: at most one notification per route every 5 minutes.
  • Route removed when you take the route off their list, give it to someone else or delete it.

Notifications arrive in the driver's language, and the route in the app updates by itself.

Change a route after sending

Open a route's menu (⋮) in Routes:

The route menu with Edit stops, Change driver, Remove driver, Route settings, Activity, Proofs of delivery, Duplicate route and Delete route
Everything you can do with a route.
Before the driver starts
Everything: edit the stops and the settings, change or remove the driver, duplicate or delete the route.
After the driver starts
You can still add, remove, reorder and edit the stops they haven't reached, and the changes go to their app right away. Marked stops are locked, and the driver can't be changed.
When the route is finished
It's view-only. Duplicate route copies its stops to another day.

If the driver changed the route in the app at the same time, both changes are kept.

Follow the day in Routes

Routes lists the routes of the day with their status — New, In progress, Finished or Unassigned — and how many stops are done. It updates by itself as drivers mark stops (Live).

  • Choose the day: Today, Yesterday, Tomorrow, Last 7 days or Pick a date.
  • Filter by status and by driver, or search for a route or a stop.
  • On a computer, Show on map puts up to 10 routes on one map, each in its driver's colour.

Inside a route

Open a route to see its stops with the planned and actual times. Arrival times update as the driver marks stops, and late stops are marked. On the map, the path already driven is grey, and a small mark shows where the phone was when each stop was marked.

Activity lists everything that happened on the route: when it was created and assigned, when the driver started, every delivered or failed stop with the time and how far from the address it was marked, and when the route was finished. Proofs shows every proof of delivery.

For the whole day at once, use Whole day: map and activity and Whole day: proofs of delivery in Routes.

While a driver's team route is in progress, the map shows the driver's current position — only the latest point, updated about every 30–60 seconds while they're moving, with no history. It disappears when the route is finished. Drivers' personal routes are never shared with the team.

When a driver leaves the team

Their team routes return to the team owner, including a route in progress with its proofs of delivery. A returned route that hasn't started can be assigned to another driver from its menu.
