Guide 8
Dispatchers and view-only members
Everyone in the team is a member. The owner can make any member a dispatcher to plan routes, and decide for each member whether they may change their routes in the app.
Who can do what
- Owner
- Created the team. Plans routes, invites members, gives and takes away the Dispatcher role, sets view-only access, and is the only one who manages the subscription. A team has one owner.
- Dispatcher
- A member with the Dispatcher role. Plans and changes routes on the website, invites and removes members, turns View only on or off and sets proof of delivery. Sees the plan and usage, but not the billing. Can also be given routes to drive.
- Member
- Everyone else in the team. Drives the routes in the Route Planner for Couriers app and captures proof of delivery.
Make a member a dispatcher
- Open Team. The person must already be in the team — everyone joins with the same invite, see Create a team and invite members.
- On the member's row, click Make dispatcher. Their role changes to Dispatcher right away, and they can sign in to the website with the same Google or Apple account they use in the app.
- To take the role away, click Remove dispatcher on their row. They stay in the team as a member.
Any member can be a dispatcher, and there is no separate limit on dispatchers — only the package's number of team members, including the owner. Only the owner gives and takes away the role. A dispatcher can still be assigned routes and drive them in the app.
All routes or only their own
For each dispatcher, the owner chooses in Routes on the dispatcher's row:
- All routes
- The dispatcher sees and manages every route of the team.
- Only their own
- The dispatcher sees and manages just the routes they created, also after sending them to a driver. Useful when each dispatcher has their own area or customers.
View-only members
A member with View only follows the route exactly as planned and can't change its stops: they can't add, remove or reorder stops, optimize again or create routes. They still start and finish the route, navigate to each stop, mark stops and capture proof of delivery.
It's useful for new drivers, for temporary help, or for days with tight delivery windows, when the order you planned matters.
- Open Team.
- In Members, turn on the View only switch on the member's row. It's saved straight away.
- To let the member change their routes again, turn the switch off.
New members join with View only off. If a member leaves the team and joins again, their earlier setting comes back.
