Route planner for delivery drivers: plan a delivery route in minutes

Forty, eighty or a hundred and fifty stops, one phone and a shift that has to end on time. Route Planner for Couriers is a delivery route planner app for iPhone and Android: you add the day's addresses, tap Optimize Route, and the app puts them in the order that saves the most driving. Here is how to plan a delivery route step by step, and what the free plan covers.

What the app does on a delivery day

  • Puts up to 100, 150 or 200 stops (Lite, Pro, Business) in the best order with one tap and shows the arrival time at every stop.
  • Adds stops four ways: type or say the address, scan the package label, import a CSV or Excel file, or share the text of your list — a screenshot of it in Pro (Android).
  • Opens each stop in Google Maps, Waze or Apple Maps for turn-by-turn directions.
  • Lets you mark each stop Done or Failed, and from Lite keeps proof of delivery: photo, signature, barcode or ID check.

Plans and limits as of October 2026. The app always shows the exact limits of your plan before you subscribe.

Three ways to add your stops

1. Type or say the address

Tap the search bar and start with the house number and street, or tap the microphone and say the address. The city and zip code narrow the suggestions down: pick the right one and the stop lands on the map.

Tip: Add the apartment number, gate code or the customer's phone as a note on the stop, so it is right there when you pull up.

2. Scan the package labels

Point the camera at the shipping label and tap Scan. The app reads the delivery address, not the return address on the same label, and finds it on the map. Check the pin and tap Scan next for the next package.

Tip: Scan while you load the vehicle: when the last package is in, your route is ready.

3. Import a spreadsheet or share a list

Got the day's stops as a CSV or Excel file? Import it: the app finds the address column, shows every stop on the map and lets you fix the odd one before they are added. On Android you can also share the text of a list straight to the app, or a screenshot of it in Pro.

Tip: Pro and Business import files of up to 150 and 200 addresses and scan a whole printed list with the camera; Lite includes one test import.

How to plan a delivery route, step by step

Once the stops are in, the route itself takes about a minute.

  1. Set the starting point: the depot, the warehouse or your first pickup. Turn on Round trip if you have to come back, or tap End route here on the stop where you want to finish.
  2. Add the stops: typed, scanned, imported or shared, as above.
  3. Tap Optimize Route. The app reorders the stops to cut driving time and shows the arrival time at each one. Prefer your own order? Move the stops where you want them and tap Save my order.
  4. Tap Start and open the next stop in Google Maps, Waze or Apple Maps for turn-by-turn directions.
  5. At the door, mark the stop Done or Failed. From Lite you can add a photo, signature, barcode or ID check as proof of delivery.
  6. Same stops tomorrow? Open the route from Routes and tap Duplicate route, or start a new one.

Questions delivery drivers ask

Is there a free route planner app for delivery drivers?

Yes. Route Planner for Couriers is free to download on iPhone and Android, and the free plan covers short routes, with limits the app shows you. For longer routes, Lite, Pro and Business take 100, 150 and 200 stops and start with a free trial.

How many stops can I plan in one route?

Up to 100 on Lite, 150 on Pro and 200 on Business, plus your starting point. On the free plan routes are short, and the app shows the exact limit.

Can I plan a delivery route with Google Maps?

Google Maps takes up to 10 stops and keeps them in the order you type them. Route Planner for Couriers first puts the whole list in the best order, then opens each stop in Google Maps, Waze or Apple Maps for the directions.

Does it work alongside my delivery company's app?

Yes. Keep using your company's app to scan and confirm deliveries. Route Planner for Couriers takes care of the stop order and the navigation, with any address or any label that has the address printed on it.

Can I plan around delivery time windows?

Yes, on Business: give a stop a time window, or import time windows with your file, and the optimizer plans around them. Business also adds parcel control: scan each package into the vehicle and again at the door.

Planning routes for several drivers?

Route Planner Teams is for small delivery businesses: plan the day's routes on the web, assign them to your drivers, and each driver gets their route in this app.
