How to add more than 10 stops in Google Maps

Google Maps is great for driving, but it is not a delivery route planner. One trip holds a starting point and up to 9 more stops, and the stops stay in the order you typed them. If you deliver 30, 80 or 150 parcels a day, you need two things Google Maps does not do: more stops, and the best order.

What Google Maps allows

  • Up to 10 places in one trip: your starting point plus 9 stops, and the last one is the destination. The limit is the same on Android, iPhone and computer.
  • No automatic order: Google Maps keeps the stops in the order you add them. You can only drag them by hand.
  • Several stops work for driving, walking and cycling, not for public transport or flights.

Three free workarounds

1. Split the day into several trips

Plan stops 1–10, drive them, then plan the next 10 and so on.

Limit: You still choose the order yourself, and you type every address twice.

2. Join several Google Maps links

Free tools can glue several Google Maps routes into one link, so you can share or open a longer route.

Limit: The order is still yours: nothing is optimized, and editing a stop means rebuilding the links.

3. Put your addresses on Google My Maps

Import a spreadsheet and see every delivery as a pin on one map.

Limit: It shows where the stops are, but it does not plan an order or navigate the route.

The faster way: plan the route in an app, drive with Google Maps

Route Planner for Couriers was made for this. It plans the whole day and hands each stop to the navigator you already use.

  1. Add all your stops at once: type them, scan the address on a parcel label with the camera, or import a CSV or Excel file or a screenshot of your list.
  2. Tap Optimize. The app puts up to 100, 150 or 200 stops, depending on your plan, in the best order.
  3. Drive with Google Maps, Waze or another navigator. One tap opens the next stop with turn-by-turn directions.
  4. Mark each stop delivered or failed and keep a proof of delivery with a photo and signature.

Questions couriers ask

Can I add more than 10 stops in Google Maps?

Not in one trip. The limit is 10 places including the start. You can split the day into several trips, or plan the full route in a delivery route planner and open each stop in Google Maps.

Does Google Maps optimize the order of stops?

No. Google Maps keeps the order you enter. To get the shortest order for many stops, use a route optimizer and then navigate stop by stop.

Can I still use Google Maps for directions?

Yes. Route Planner for Couriers plans the order and opens each stop in Google Maps, Waze or another navigation app.

Is Route Planner for Couriers free?

Short routes are free, and the app shows what your free plan includes. Lite, Pro and Business unlock routes of 100, 150 and 200 stops and start with a free trial.
